About
Pan American Silver provides enhanced exposure to silver through large silver reserves and catalysts to grow silver production.
Our Tailings and Heap Leach Pad (HLP) Management Framework governs how we manage mineral waste. This includes the design, construction, operation, maintenance, and closure of tailings storage facilities (TSFs) and heap leach pads, in a manner that reduces risks to communities and the environment. This framework supports safe and efficient planning, implementation, monitoring, and review of critical facilities, and establishes clear accountabilities and responsibilities across all tailings facilities and HLPs.
Mining activities generate both mineral and non-mineral waste, including hazardous and non-hazardous materials, which require responsible recycling, reuse, or safe disposal at the end of their life cycle. Wherever possible, we aim to support a circular economy by reducing non-mineral waste at the source and implementing recycling programs across our operations, enabling materials to be reused and their lifespan to be extended.
